Hollywooooooood

Riding on a site-seeing bus is something everyone should do, even if you do live in So. CA.  Our tour guide, Mike, from tourcorp entertained us from the minute we arrived until the very end of our tour.  To keep him entertained, Aunt Lee listened and commented with insightful knowledge about the movie stars’ lives and stories that made them famous.

Speaking as one who is always in the driver’s seat, today I thoroughly enjoyed being driven from Hollywood to Beverly Hills and all around Rodeo Drive and Mulholland Drive.  I was very relaxed while Mike whisked us through the neighborhoods pointing out a small section of rooftop that belonged to estates larger than some nine-hole golf courses.  Two hours are plenty of time to see everything from the “old money” homes to the “new money” homes.

My favorite sighting of the day was on Rodeo Dr.  The “car” belonging to Bijan was parked outside his famous boutique.  I quickly took a shot of this little beauty as we sped by.  I thought I’d look up some information about Bijan on Wikipedia.  Sam told us if you shop in his boutique and you don’t spend at least $1,000, then he’ll charge you $1,500 just for his time.  What a guy!

Bijan Pakzad (Persian: بیژن پاکزاد) (generally known simply as Bijan) (born 1944, in Tehran, Iran)[1] is an American based Iraniandesigner of menswear and fragrances.  His exclusive boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills was established in 1976 and can be visited by “appointment only”. It has been described as “the most expensive store in the world”.[2]

Bijan is known also for his cars: he has a Yellow Bentley Azure with black interior, as well as a Black Bentley Azure with yellow interior. He is also known to have a Black Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren with a customized paint scheme, a yellow Ferrari 430, a Yellow Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe, and a Bugatti Veyron, all of which he is known to park outside of his Rodeo Drive boutique.

According to the 2001 Los Angeles Times Calendar Section, the Bijan Perfume and Fashion Business has brought in an estimated $4 billion in sales worldwide. For more info, please visit: www.JoanDayImages.com
