Getty Villa
If you have never visited the Getty Villa in Malibu, CA , you will be plesently surprised when you fnally visit. It’s easy to get there; right off PCH, just North of Santa Monica. It’s just the right size for a single-day visit to the area. We had a reservation for our group, and we didn’t have to pay for parking because we carpooled. Otherwise, it would have been $15. I was very happy with our tourguide. She gave us the history of the architecture and the gardens. I was paying attention, for the most part, but I was easily distracted by the beautiful light that fills the cooridors and the gentle sea breeze that blows through the villa.
I particulary enjoyed the permanent exibititions as well as the Aztec artifacts. Mediterranean villas have long collected ancient art and sculptures to decorate and show their intellectual interests, and this villa is no different. The tiles and trompe l’ oeil were equally beautiful. If you enjoy the coast and visiting museums, this is the place to come to for the day.
